Oliver Reichenstein
Oliver graduated in philosophy before becoming a designer. He is the founder of iA(Information Architects), a design studio with offices in Zurich and Tokyo.
iA is known for its work in interface design and for developing iA Writer, a focused writing app, and iA Presenter, a text-based presentation tool. Oliver’s work centers on the creative connection between thinking and making.
Philosophy for Designers
In his talk, Oliver explores how philosophy can inform design—and how creative practice can improve academic philosophy. Drawing on Giambattista Vico’s principle of _Maker’s Knowledge_, he reflects on 25 years of working as a designer with a background in humanities. He shows how and where philosophy has influenced his design process, and how the practice of building user focused products could energize academic philosophy.
