Lunch Sessions

Interested in getting even more out of your Smashing experience? Our amazing friends from the Interledger Foundation are hosting a session to let you know more about what they do! This is session is free, comes with lunch and we only have 25 spots available.

At lunchtime, just follow one of the volunteers in the blue shirts. Grab some lunch, settle in, and listen to what they have to say! All sessions take about 40 mins, so after the session you will still have time to relax and mingle.

Interledger Foundation Lunch Session — Evolving Web Monetization

The Web Monetization standard offers a browser-native alternative to ad-heavy platforms and rigid paywalls by establishing an open, privacy-preserving payment layer built directly into the web. Designed for front-end developers and creators interested in alternative revenue models, this session explores how the standard works today, key W3C specification updates, and practical developer tools for streaming micro-payments, concluding with a live demonstration of native monetization in Chromium-based browsers.

As an Engineering Manager at the Interledger Foundation, Max Kurapov builds open source tools and APIs that provide developers and institutions access to the Interledger network, primarily Rafiki. Before joining the Foundation, Max spent five years working at startups, including a fintech company, where he was one of the leads on the card payments processing team.
