Schedule
The goal is simple: help Power.Coders improve their website!
Our Member community has chosen Power.Coders out of multiple Non-Profits who could use our help. At the event, our experts will be improving the site’s design, front-end and accessibility.
We’ll re-design and develop Power.Coders’ site in three interactive sessions, where you get to see our experts work, explain what they do (and why), interact & help them and see something smashing grow.
We open our virtual doors 30 minutes before we start on April 27, 2021 at 10 AM PDT and we’ll finish around 1pm. All sessions will be AI captioned.
🌉 10 AM — San Francisco
🗽 1 PM — New York
🌴 2 PM — Brazil
🌭 7 PM — Berlin
We love it when our speakers do live things: they show how they work — their setup, techniques and shortcuts for getting work done in live interactive sessions. So you can learn from their techniques (and mistakes).

Just Getting To Know Y’all ✨ 👋 💑
Just a friendly informal session where you can get to know each other a little before the actual event starts. Feel free to share your cam and put on that nice Snapchat filter.
Welcome!
Kicking off Smashing Meets with Vitaly and Jarijn! Some welcome words, a guide to the platform and more friendly chat. We can’t wait to meet you!
Session 1 — Getting That Base Right
In this session, Joe and Vitaly will try and get the base UX and UI design of the site sorted. They will have a quick look at the existing site, ask the project owner questions and do some quick sketching and validation. If there is enough time, they will try to do some UI design of core components as well.
☕️ and 🚽 break
Coz we all need to be hydrated at the right level
Session 2 — Coding It Up
Building on Joe's base, Stephanie will start working on the HTML and CSS of the site to create the first components and page(s). She and Vitaly will determine the best semantic structure and try to work trough a few important components.
🚻 and 🥤 break
Remember — hydration is !important
Session 3 — Making It (Even) Better
Now we have a (hopefully solid 😅) semantic HTML/CSS base, we can start to improve the site further. Carie will focus on making the site more accessible using various tools, whilst Vitaly will try to do some performance tweaks.
What’s Next?
Since we might not be able to do everything in just three hours, we will summarise what we have done, learned, and what the next steps could be.
Goodbye!
All good things come to an end. Thankfully, you can relive it all with our videos and collaborative docs. And hopefully the end product is live very very soon. We hope you’ll get back to work with new skills and fresh inspiration. Thank you for joining us! 😻
