Schedule
See what’s coming up in CSS-land and how you can apply it, in about two hours!
In this Meets-event, we’ll start with the amazing Miriam Suzanne, who will talk about what is coming up in CSS, and why that should excite you.
She’ll be followed by Ahmad Shadeed, who will go into more detail on how to use Container Queries, especially from a design viewpoint. The event will be closed by a panel discussion where you can participate yourself.
We open our virtual doors 30 minutes before we start on July 8, 2021 at 5 PM CEST and we’ll finish around 7pm. All sessions will be captioned, courtesy of our accessibility partner Balsamiq.

The Future of CSS
New CSS proposals like Container Queries, Cascade Layers and Scoped Styles are all aimed at improving the way we write responsive components and design systems.
Over the last decade Object-Oriented & Responsive design have become the norm – with tools like Flexbox, Grid, intrinsic sizing, and aspect-ratio giving us even more layout control. CSS has always been designed for a responsive web, but that goalpost can shift over time. Join Miriam to explore how these new features help us write more modern, encapsulated, and responsive CSS.
Challenge ☕️
We love getting to know you a little bit better. Join the session in Gather.town and learn a bit more about your fellow attendees, the organisers and maybe even yourself! ;-)
Working with CSS Container Queries
In this talk, Ahmad will go into detail about CSS Container Queries, focusing on use cases from a visual perspective. He'll answer some common questions which include:
- "What are container queries and how are they different from media queries?"
- "How can we best deliver UI's with container queries in mind?
- “How do we ensure progressive enhancement whilst using container queries"
Whilst answering these questions, Ahmad will also provide a lot of use cases and (visual) examples with interactive visuals and demos. Very practical, so you can start using them yourself in your own projects!
Panel Discussion
In this interactive panel discussion, Vitaly will discuss all things CSS (and maybe some non-CSS things as well) with Miriam and Ahmad.
So please bring your questions, be ready for some high-level discussion and insights, and fire away!Goodbye!
All good things come to an end. Thankfully, you can relive it all with our videos, slides, and collaborative docs. We hope you’ll get back to work with new skills and fresh inspiration. Thank you for joining us! ⛱
