Want to become a better UX designer, recognize and fix common (mobile) UX problems with ease? In this UX for Mobile eCommerce Masterclass, Rinaldo will provide you with a lot of eCommerce samples, combined with practical applications, based on four common eCommerce chapters.

Rinaldo is part of the Baymard team, which has conducted more than 78,000 hours of large-scale UX research studies. Combined with years of agency experience, working for some of the world’s biggest, Rinaldo will dive deep into the cause of (mobile) usability issues, and provide actionable insights in how to fix them.

Like all our workshops, the topics and research findings presented are practically applied through multiple group exercise sessions. Therefore in each session, you apply the UX research findings directly to your own project(s).

After this workshop, you’ll be able to use these best practices into your own work and design better mobile friendly eCommerce experiences.

In this workshop you’ll learn:

  • Addressing the five overarching issues on mobile — Lack of page overview and sense of disorientation. How to deal with tech issues, accidental of unregistered taps, and interruptions.
  • How to solve these issues with providing an overview, popups, form field usability, space and hit areas, and main navigation (and the differences between mobile vs. desktop).
  • Search Query Types — Three most common search query types and their characteristics.
  • Search autocomplete — How people respond to autocomplete and how it alters their search behavior. How to design autocomplete and the differences between search query types.
  • Search Logic, Guidance & Layout — Displaying results, contextual search snippets, and “no results” pages.
  • Product List Navigation — Product variations, load more vs Pagination, product titles, thumbnail size and displaying price.
  • Filtering & sorting Features, Design and Logic — Category-specific filters, long lists of filter options, showing the number of matches, and default sort type.
  • Product Page Layout — ‘Mobile Product Pages’ UX performance, ‘Vertically Collapsed Sections’, breadcrumbs and primary buttons.
  • Product Images — How users perform visual product inspections, product images needed, image gesture support and images scaling.
  • Product Descriptions — Product Highlights, product headlines, and page subtitles. Designing scannable and understandable spec-sheets.
  • Checkout — Mobile checkout UX performance and how to simplify the checkout flow. Account selection, store pickup, order buttons placement, mobile filed context & labels, optional/required denotation and touch keyboards.
